This time we knit our sneakers from self-regenerating bamboo & recycled plastics from heel to toe. IBI is high performance, low impact and ultra lightweight. Wearing IBI, you’ll be lighter on your feet and leave behind a smaller footprint.

Our mission is to help restore the biodiversity and carbon-capturing potential of rainforests.
Since June 2020, we’ve committed to planting two trees for every pair of sneakers we sell. Our work starts in the Brazilian rainforest, where only 12.4% of the forest floor remains following widespread urbanization and agricultural logging. With the goal of restoring biological diversity in this essential biome, we plant over 120 tree species, based on what’s native to each site.
- Upper & Lining: Perfect-fit Bamboo Knit (with a touch of recycled polyester)
- Insole: Removable lightweight memory foam + cork + Mamona oil (& a secret message)
- Outsole: Green EVA made from sugarcane
- Laces: Made with recycled plastics

Fit: Runs small

Comfy and stylish
The flex weave makes this shoe very comfortable and breathable. Dirt cleans off both the weave and sole easily. No discomfort after 8+ hours on my feet at work. The padding around the collar of the shoe is a nice touch, no spots rubbing and instant comfort with no break in.

Cariuma runs about a half size smaller then im used too, I normally wear a 10 1/2 in vans/adidias shoes and a 10 from Cariuma fits perfect.

Bamboo is harvested from the stalk and rapidly regenerates, leaving tree & soil intact.

Sugarcane Outsole

Our durable outsoles are made with Green EVA from sugarcane and a negative carbon emissions balance.

Vegan Insole

Our signature memory foam insole is made with cork & mamona oil.

Recycled Plastics

IBI’s lining, laces, threads and our logo labels are made from recycled plastic bottles.

Nurturing the planet is a cause that’s very dear to us at Cariuma. That’s why we decided to start our own Reforestation Program in our founders’ homeland, Brazil, where the rainforests are home to an increasing number of endangered plants & animals. For every pair of sustainable sneakers purchased, we plant a pair of trees in the Brazilian rainforest to directly aid in the restoration and preservation of these natural habitats.
